Finally got round to putting in early potatoes:
Sharpes express are a heritage variety first added to the national potato variety list in 1901. The tubers are long and oval shaped with white skins and pale, lemon-coloured flesh. And well tasty.
Chitting heck!
I dug a trench and backfilled with spent barley and hops for moisture retention and nearly rotted compost:
Two dead bodies or potatoes:
Meanwhile in the greenhouse it was getting steamy:
and the salad leaf has germinated:
The tomato seedlings are doing well too and will soon need pricking out
The purple sprouting broccoli continues to sprout and the word glut comes to mind, but that’s okay as my gut like the glut, until my gut becomes a glut, a glut of gut infact.
The plum blossom underlining the fact that spring is here

It was supposed to be the sunniest and hottest day of the year, but not in Yorkshire, where atmospheric fog dominated the day. Still the sculpture at YSP looked just as good:
I liked the deer shelter, amazing light and lines and smooth polished concrete:
All lit by a hole in the ceiling
Andy Goldsworthy’s Sheep fold provided a handy resting point for the pregnant lady in my life:
The Joan Miro exhibition was good too:
“For me an object is something living. This cigarette or this box of matches contains a secret life much more intense than that of certain human beings. When I see a tree, I get a shock, as if it were somebody breathing, somebody speaking. A tree, too, is something human”. Joan Miro
